Variety reports that Darren Aronofsky (Black Swawn) will direct “Hobgoblin,” a drama pilot in development at HBO.

The pilot will be written by Michael Chabon and his wife, Ayelet Waldman. It is about “a group of con men and magicians who use their skills of deception to help defeat Hitler and the Germans during WWII.”

As was previously reported, Aronofsky is also moving forward with Noah, his epically-scaled retelling of the biblical story of Noah and his ark. The movie is said to cost about $130 million. John Logan is currently rewriting Aronofsky’s script for the pilot.

Aronofsky, Chabon and Waldman will executive produce “Hobgoblin” with John Lesher and Adam Kassan.
