Universal and Justin Lin Back Sci-Fi Crime Thriller

The Hollywood Reporter has the exclusive that Universal Pictures has bought an untitled sci-fi crime thriller script from Bobby Glickert with Fast Five director Justin Lin and Scott Stuber producing.

Glickert was a production assistant on Transformers and Iron Man before becoming Lin’s assistant on Fast & Furious and directing a couple short films. Although the details are kept under wraps, it’s been said that it’s a cross between a Michael Mann crime-thriller like Heat and a Jason Bourne movie, and it’s being set-up as Glickert’s feature film directorial debut.

Glickert has another untitled sci-fi project in development with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes at Paramount.

Talking about his former assistant, Lin told the Reporter:

“We’ve always shared information and wanted to be part of something we could start from the ground up. When this project gets going, this core group is going to be poeple who’ve I worked with and who’s he’s worked with, and this will be good to do on a studio film.”
