The Jumanji Cast Poses in the Jungle

Cameras are still rolling on the new Jumanji movie from Sony Pictures and star Dwayne Johnson has provided a new set photo featuring the principal Jumanji cast. The actor has also provided a comment about the movie’s move from summer to Christmas of 2017. Check out the full photo in the gallery below!

“Here comes Dwanta Claus. Excited to share this great news: CHRISTMAS of 2017 comes early for our #JUMANJI SEQUEL. We were always slated to be released summer of 2017, but after months of shooting and editing our movie together, we realized we have a big family franchise on our hands, that’s full of Christmas wish fulfillment, fun and heart. Like so many of us, it’s my FAVORITE time of the year and I LUV delivering holiday entertainment. From ‘Moana’ this Thanksgiving, to ‘Rock the Troops’ this Christmas, to ‘Jumanji’ next Christmas! Calling Rudolph now to get our sleigh and fanny packs.”

The new Jumanji cast also includes Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Alex Wolff and Morgan Turner. As we previously reported, it would appear that the Johnson, Hart, Black and Gillan are playing the “avatars” of the kids actually playing the Jumanji game in the film.

Bad Teacher and Sex Tape helmer Jake Kasdan is directing from a screenplay by High Fidelity and Con Air scribe Scott Rosenberg with frequent Bad Robot executive producer Jeff Pinkner serving as a consultant. Matt Tolmach, William Teitler and Ted Field are producing. Mike Weber and Van Allsburg executive produce.

Jumanji is based on Chris Van Allsburg’s 1985 children’s book in which a magical board game causes jungle plants and creatures to invade a quiet American suburb. The 1995 original film was directed by Joe Johnston and starred the late Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce, Jonathan Hyde, Bebe Neuwirth, David Alan Grier and Patricia Clarkson. According to Johnson, the new film will serve as a sequel rather than a full reboot.
