Pirates 5’s Joachim Rønning to Direct Tom Cruise in Methuselah

According to Deadline, producer David Heyman (the Harry Potter franchise, Gravity) has just found a director for Warner Bros. Pictures‘ Biblical epic Methuselah in Norwegian helmer Joachim Rønning, who co-directed Kon Tiki and Disney’s upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales with Espen Sandberg. A-lister Tom Cruise (Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) is attached to star in the title role.

The film will follow Cruise as the legendary 1,000-year-old man, who has used his time on the planet to develop an unparalleled set of survival skills.

James Watkins (The Woman in Black) was previously attached to direct the action adventure, with Arash Amel penning the script. The current draft was written by Zach Dean, and new writers are being sought to polish that script for Rønning and Cruise.
