Will Gluck Signs Film and TV Deal with Sony

Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that Will Gluck has signed a film and television production deal with the studio. Here is the press release:

Will Gluck, the director and producer of Screen Gems’ smash hit Easy A and co-writer/director/producer of Screen Gems’ highly anticipated comedy Friends with Benefits, has entered into a 2-year development and production deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment covering both television and film across all of Sony’s banners, including Columbia Pictures, Screen Gems and Sony Pictures Television, it was announced today by Michael Lynton, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Amy Pascal, Co-Chairman of the studio.

Commenting on the announcement, Pascal said, “Will is an extraordinary talent who has a unique comedic voice. He has now directed three films for us and each one was distinctive and contemporary. He writes and directs movies that are timeless, hilarious, engaging and disarming. Michael, Clint and I have loved working with him, and this deal will allow him to channel his energy in any creative direction he hopes to pursue.”

Added Lynton, “Will is a tremendously talented writer and a director who has created several excellent films. We love what he did with Easy A and we believe audiences will be just as excited about Friends With Benefits. Both his writing and directing styles are fresh and authentic. We look forward to working with him for many years to come.”

WILL GLUCK is currently at work developing Sex on the Moon for Columbia Pictures and producers Scott Rudin, Dana Brunetti and Michael DeLuca. His next motion picture is Screen Gems’ Friends with Benefits, starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. He previously directed the low-budget comedy Easy A, which earned over $75 Million at the box office and starred Emma Stone in a Golden Globe-nominated performance. He made his directorial debut in 2009 with Fired Up!. Gluck, a New York native, started in television as a staff writer for the NBC series “The John Larroquette Show.” He went on to serve as writer and producer on the shows “Working,” “Grosse Pointe,” and “Andy Richter Controls the Universe.” Gluck created and executive produced the 2003 Fox television series “Luis,” starring Luis Guzman and co-created and executive produced “The Loop,” also on Fox, from 2005-2007. Gluck’s deal was negotiated by his representatives at UTA and attorney Robert Offer of Sloane Offer Weber Dern.
