Jennifer Lawrence to Play Zelda Fitzgerald for Ron Howard

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award-winning superstar Jennifer Lawrence (Hunger Games franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, Silver Linings Playbook) is set to portray Jazz Age legend Zelda Fitzgerald in a biopic being developed by Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Inferno) as a potential directing vehicle.

Currently going under the working title Zelda, the project will cover the marriage and creative rivalry between her and her husband, famed author F. Scott Fitzgerald of “The Great Gatsby” fame. The competition between the two of them eventually drove Mrs. Fitzgerald famously to obsession and madness.

The screenplay for Zelda will be penned by Emma Frost (The White Queen) and produced by former Lionsgate executive Allison Shearmur (The Hunger Games) and Brian Oliver (Hacksaw Ridge) alongside Lawrence and her producing partner Justine Ciarrocchi.

This is not the only recent Zelda Fitzgerald project, as Christina Ricci is playing her in the TV series “Z: The Beginning of Everything,” Vanessa Kirby portrayed her in Genius and Scarlett Johansson is rumored to play her in a similar biopic titled The Beautiful and the Damned.

Lawrence will next be seen in the sci-fi romance Passengers opposite Chris Pratt on December 21.
