The new Jumanji cast also includes Nick Jonas, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Alex Wolff and Morgan Turner. As we previously reported, it would appear that the Johnson, Hart, Black and Gillan are playing the “avatars” of the kids actually playing the Jumanji game in the film.

Bad Teacher and Sex Tape helmer Jake Kasdan will direct from a screenplay by High Fidelity and Con Air scribe Scott Rosenberg with frequent Bad Robot executive producer Jeff Pinkner serving as a consultant. Matt Tolmach, William Teitler and Ted Field are producing. Mike Weber and Van Allsburg executive produce.

Jumanji is based on Chris Van Allsburg’s 1985 children’s book in which a magical board game causes jungle plants and creatures to invade a quiet American suburb. The 1995 original film was directed by Joe Johnston and starred the late Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce, Jonathan Hyde, Bebe Neuwirth, David Alan Grier and Patricia Clarkson. According to Johnson, the new film will serve as a sequel rather than a full reboot.

Jumanji hits theaters on July 28, 2017.
