Jamie Dornan Joins Robin Hood: Origins

Back in January, Jamie Foxx (Django UnchainedRay) joined the cast of Lionsgate‘s Robin Hood: Origins as Little John. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, another famous “Jamie” has been added to the cast in the form of Fifty Shades of Grey‘s Jamie Dornan, who is set to play Will Scarlett, a stylish member of the title character’s band of Merry Men who also happens to be the husband of Maid Marian.

Described as an origin story in the vein of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, Robin Hood: Origins aims for a new take on the folk hero. The story finds Robin Hood (played by Kingsman: The Secret Service‘s Taron Egerton) returning from The Crusades to discover a Sherwood Forest rife with corruption and evil. Teaming with a band of outlaws, he takes matters into his own hands to set things right, with very little merry-making along the way. Eve Hewson (Bridge of Spies) will play Maid Marion.

Said to feature a “gritty” tone, the script for Robin Hood: Origins hails from Joby Harold, who recently penned Guy Ritchie’s revisionist take on Camelot titled Knights of the Roundtable. The film will be produced by Appian Way’s Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson along with Harold and Tory Tunnell’s Safe House Prods.

Dornan will next be seen in the Netflix war film The Siege of Jadotville on October 7, and will reprise his starmaking role as Christian Grey in February’s Fifty Shades Darker
