Tom Hanks has officially joined the adaptation of David Mitchell’s novel, Cloud Atlas, set to be adapted by the combined team of Tom Tykwer (Perfume, Run Lola Run) and Andy and Lana Wachowski (The Matrix, Speed Racer).
The unconventional novel pits six radically different narratives against one another, stretching from the year 1850 to the end of civilization in the distant future.
Last November, Halle Berry indicated that not only would she star in the film, but said at the time that Hanks was likely attached as well. Natalie Portman has also indicated that she will play a minor part.
Warner Bros. is said to be lined up to domestically distribute the picture, which will begin shooting in September.
