Terminator 2 3D Announced for 2017!

He said he’d be back and he wasn’t lying. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 stands tall and proud in Studio Canal‘s brand-new announcement poster for Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D, which will allow fans to see James Cameron‘s 1991 classic in a whole new dimension in 2017! Check out the full Terminator 2 3D poster in the gallery below.

Produced by Carolco Pictures and originally released by Tri-Star Pictures, the film picks up in 1995 — 11 years after the original Terminator — with Schwarzenegger’s T-800 reprogrammed to go back in time and protect a young John Connor (Edward Furlong) and his mom Sarah (Linda Hamilton) from an advanced prototype Terminator known as the T-1000 (Robert Patrick).

Upon its release, T2 was the most expensive movie ever made at $102 million ($180 million adjusted for inflation), and paved the way for computer-generated imagery with the CG-enhanced liquid metal T-1000. The film grossed nearly $520 million dollars at the worldwide box office, won four technical Oscars, and was followed by three sequels (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation and Terminator Genisys).

Cameron has good reason to convert his classic to 3D, as his 2012 3D re-release of Titanic grossed $343 million worldwide, the bulk of that made overseas. The core cast of T2 (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong and Robert Patrick) were reunited in 1996 for the 12-minute-long Universal Studios attraction T2 3D: Battle Across Time, which Cameron co-directed with effects men John Bruno and Stan Winston.
