A busy week for home releases kicks off with the animated adaptation of Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s legendary DC Comics tale Batman: The Killing Joke. Also from Warner Bros. is the comedy actioner Keanu, starring Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele and a very, very cute kitten!

Starring Colin Farrell, The Lobster, then, offers a darkly comic look at relationships with the story of a world where, when individuals cannot find a partner within 45 days, they’re transformed into an animal. The film hails from Dogtooth director Yorgos Lanthimos and also stars John C. Reilly, Rachel Weisz and Jessica Barden.

August 2 also brings home Mother’s Day, the final film from the late Garry Marshall, as well as the comedy Meet the Blacks. You can check out an exclusive set of outtakes from the latter in the player at the bottom of this page.

Other recent big screen releases arriving August 2 include the comedies The Bronze and Puerto Ricans in Paris, the impressive animated adventure April and the Extraordinary World, the Tom Hiddleston-led thriller High-RiseManhattan Night, starring Adrien Brody and Yvonne Strahovski, the heist actioner The Trust, starring Elijah Wood and Nicolas Cage, and the sci-fi comedy Lazer Team.

There’s also a pair of recent horror features arriving this week with Catfish and Nerve director Henry Joost’s Viral and, on DVD only, the horror tale Summer Camp.

Shout! Factory this week turns their attention to Philip Kaufman’s brilliant take on Invasion of the Bodysnatchers. Their new set combines the best presentation yet of the 1978 sci-fi thriller with a tremendous number of bonus features.

Also arriving from Shout! Factory on August 2 are the more recent horror titles The Binding and Bite as well as Red Sonja: Queen of Plagues, a motion comic take on Gail Simone’s acclaimed comic book arc.

Small screen releases hitting August 2 include the third season of NBC‘s The Blacklist and the first season of the network’s Blindspot. There’s also a double serving of television fare for Steven Soderbergh fans as August 2 brings home both the first season of Starz‘ The Girlfriend Experience and the second season of Cinemax‘s The Knick.

Arriving via Digital HD the week of August 2 is Universal Pictures‘ fairtale prequel The Huntsman: Winter’s War as well as the sixth season of HBO‘s hugely popular Game of Thrones.
