CBS Films Picks Up Gambit Remake

Just a month after Cameron Diaz joined Oscar-winner Colin Firth in the remake of the 1966 British comedy caper Gambit, CBS Films has bought the U.S. rights for the film.

With a screenplay by Oscar-winning filmmakers Joel & Ethan Coen and directed by The Last Station helmer Mike Hoffman, the film will start shooting this May in London with Firth in the Michael Caine role, playing an art curator who hires Diaz’s “Texas Rodeo Queen” to rob a statue from a billionaire using her eerie resemblance to his dead wife.

Mike Lobell is producing alongside Crime Scene Pictures partners Adam Ripp and Rob Paris, who are also financing. Rizal Risjad is executive producing.
