Snow White and the Huntsman producer Palak Patel revealed on Twitter (before removing the posts) that “The Twilight Saga” star Kristen Stewart is closing her deal for the lead role.
“KStew is officially playing Snow White and her deal is in final negotiations and will close next week, he said late last week.
Stewart is joining Charlize Theron, who is playing the evil queen, and Viggo Mortensen, playing the Huntsman, in the Rupert Saunders-directed film. Universal Pictures will release the movie on December 21, 2012.
Snow White and the Huntsman expands the role of the Huntsman. In the Brothers Grimm version, he is ordered to take Snow White into the woods and kill her, but instead lets her go. In the new take, the Huntsman is not a love interest but, instead, serves as a mentor, teaching Snow White to fight and survive against the evil queen.
