After confirming that Tom Cruise will play Jaxx in Rock of Ages at the Oscars, director Adam Shankman has confirmed that Alec Baldwin has also joined the cast as Dennis via his Twitter account.
The two are joining Julianne Hough, who plays Sherrie, and Mary J. Blige, who plays Justice. Russell Brand is also rumored for the role of Lonnie, though that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Shankman added on his page that he has been polishing the script with Justin Theroux (Iron Man 2, Tropic Thunder). The original draft was written by Chris D’Arienzo.
Shankman is also choreographing the adaptation of the Broadway musical for New Line/Warner Bros. The musical centers on two people who meet at the Sunset Strip club Rock of Ages, fall in love and try to stay together amid ’80s rock anthems.
