Steve Carell is said to be planning a visit to Great Hope Springs. Deadline has word that the actor is negotiating to appear in the David Frankel comedy/drama, headlined by Meryl Streep (who previously worked with Frankel on The Devil Wears Prada).
The script, from Vanessa Taylor (the creator of the television series “Jack & Bobby” and writer on “Everwood” and “Alias”), tells the story of a couple working out their lives together following a 30 year anniversary.
Carell would play a therapist named Dr. Feld who counsels Streep’s character and her husband. While no actors has been announced for the husband, both Jeff Bridges and Phillip Seymour Hoffman have, in the past, been connected to the role.
Great Hope Springs is planning for an August start for an unspecified release, presumably sometime in 2012.
