Mike White Leaves Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Though Lionsgate confirmed last January that Mike White, the screenwriter behind School of Rock and Nacho Libre, was attached to direct Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Variety is now reporting that he’s off the project.

Scheduling conflicts are cited as the reason for White’s departure. He is the second director whose hands the film have passed through after David O. Russell left the project in October.

Based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s re-interpretation of Jane Austen’s “Pride & Prejudice,” the story features the literary heroine Elizabeth Bennet up against hordes of ravenous zombies.

No cast members are confirmed at this time, but Natalie Portman is still likely to be producing and, presumably, key talent is in place to create the scheduling conflict in the first place. Expect a new director to be announced shortly.
