Anne Francis, 1930-2011

Anne Francis, best known for her leading role in 1956’s Forbidden Planet and for the title role in the 60’s television series “Honey West,” passed away on Sunday, following a several-year battle with pancreatic cancer, The Associated Press reports.

With dozens of roles in both television and film, Francis’ first leading part was in 1955’s The Blackboard Jungle, appearing opposite Glenn Ford, Loius Calhern and Sidney Poitier (in one of his earliest roles).

Tragically, the news of Francis’ passing comes just a month after the death of her Forbidden Planet co-star, Leslie Nielsen.

Francis leaves behind two children and one grandchild.
