Roland Emmerich is planning to go the found-footage route with a secret project called The Zone, reports Heat Vision.
The film, from screenwriter Guillaume Tunzini, is said to deal with a large-scale alien invasion and will be produced on a small budget of under $5 million. The Zone will star an unknown cast and will feature largely improvised scenes.
Two roles are listed in the original article, including a middle-aged reporter and his young cameraman. Both parts are said to have been cast.
The Zone joins the ever-growing list of upcoming alien invasion films which currently includes Skyline, Battle: Los Angeles, Battleship, The Darkest Hour and Cowboys & Aliens.
