Thor: Ragnarok and Deadpool 2 Filming Updates

Check out the latest on Thor: Ragnarok and Deadpool 2 filming details!

Two very different Marvel films are revealing their production schedules today as Australia’s Gold Coast Bulletin reveals that director Taika Waititi‘s Thor: Ragnarok will begin shooting down under next month on July 4th. Current plans call for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Phase Three” chapter to shoot until October, although it’s noted that the production could continue through the end of the year. There’s even a first look at one of the massive outdoor sets currently being constructed that you can check out in the embedded Tweet below.

Collider, meanwhile, has an update from 20th Century Fox‘s side of the Marvel multiverse. On the red carpet for this week’s Saturn Awards, the outlet caught up with producer Simon Kinberg, who revealed that Deadpool 2 filming is planned for early 2017. It was previously confirmed that the entire creative team behind the first film will return. This includes star Ryan Reynolds, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and director Tim Miller. No official release date has been given, however.

Thor: Ragnarok will feature the return of Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder himself, with Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Sir Anthony Hopkins again portraying Odin. Tessa Thompson will take on the role of the classic hero Valkyrie, with Karl Urban as Skurge, and Cate Blanchett as the main villain, Hela.

Kevin Feige will produce the film, joined by executive producers Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Victoria Alonso, Thomas M. Hammel and Stan Lee.

Thor: Ragnarok will smash its way into theaters on November 3, 2017.
