January Jones Joins X-Men: First Class

January Jones is now confirmed to have stepped into the X-Men: First Class role of Emma Frost, reports Variety.

Contenders for the part have recently been rumored to include Rosamund Pike and Alice Eve, but Jones appears to have emerged as the top choice for the role.

Frost was introduced in “Uncanny X-Men” #129 in 1980, created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne as The White Queen, a prominent member of the Hellfire Club, a group of wealthy mutants who used their power and powers to confound the X-Men, playing a key role in “The Dark Phoenix Saga.” Later, Frost formed her own school for mutants, and her own team called the Hellions, before finally being brought into the X-Men fold by Charles Xavier (and writer Grant Morrison) and becoming a key member of the group for the past few years. A younger version of the character appeared briefly in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by Tahyna Tozzi.

Zoe Kravitz has also been cast as Angel Salvadore (not the same as Angel from X-Men: The Last Stand) while Bill Bilner will play Magneto as a young boy.

They join James McAvoy, Rose Byrne, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till, Edi Gathegi, Kevin Bacon, Jason Flemyng and Oliver Platt in the Marvel Comics adaptation, set to hit theaters on June 3, 2011.
