Michael Fassbender in Talks to Play a Serial Killer in Entering Hades

Variety is reporting that two-time Academy Award nominee Michael Fassbender (12 Years a Slave, Steve Jobs) is in talks to portray real-life Austrian serial killer Jack Unterweger in Broad Green PicturesEntering Hades.

Based on John Leake’s true crime novel, the film will chronicle celebrated journalist Unterweger as he investigates murders while himself killing eleven people across several continents.

Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman) is currently rewriting Bill Wheeler’s script to tailor the role for Fassbender. Broad Green will produce Entering Hades alongside Storyscape Entertainment’s Bob Cooper (John Tucker Must Die) and Richard Saperstein (1408) as well as Conor McCaughan and Daniel Emmerson of Fassbender’s DMC Film.

“With Bob and Richard’s vision and Michael’s keen ability to bring captivating characters to the big screen, we are confident that ‘Entering Hades’ will be an entertaining thriller that draws a big audience,” said Gabriel and Daniel Hammond, CEO and Chief Creative Officer of Broad Green Pictures.

“This is exactly the kind of elevated and commercial material that we are looking to produce through our deal with Broad Green,” Cooper and Saperstein said. “Michael Fassbender is one of today’s most talented actors and we are thrilled to be in partnership with him, as well as Conor and Daniel, to bring this extraordinary story to the screen.”

Fassbender recently completed work on another serial killer story, The Snowman, for director Tomas Alfredson. He’ll next be seen in a trio of franchise blockbusters for 20th Century Fox, namely this summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, this Christmas’s Assassin’s Creed and the currently-shooting Alien: Covenant.
