Deadline New York‘s Mike Fleming is reporting that Alice Eve, the British actress who first appeared on the scene opposite James McAvoy in Starter for 10 and recently appeared in the romantic comedy She’s Out of My League and in Sex and the City 2, is in talks to play the role of Emma Frost in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class. Eve certainly has all the right elements for her to play Frost, already having a British accent and certain other attributes that were featured quite prominently in the “Sex and the City” movie. If she takes the role, it will reunite her with McAvoy, who has already been cast as Charles Xavier in the Marvel mutant prequel.
Frost was introduced in “Uncanny X-Men” #129 in 1980, created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne as The White Queen, a prominent member of the Hellfire Club, a group of wealthy mutants who used their power and powers to confound the X-Men, playing a key role in “The Dark Phoenix Saga.” Later, Frost formed her own school for mutants, and her own team called the Hellions, before finally being brought into the X-Men fold by Charles Xavier (and writer Grant Morrison) and becoming a key member of the group for the past few years. A younger version of the character appeared briefly in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by Tahyna Tozzi.
X-Men: First Class is currently slated for a release on June 3, 2011.
