Dylan O’Brien Injured on the Set of Maze Runner: The Death Cure

20th Century Fox has released the following statement informing us that leading man Dylan O’Brien was injured yesterday while filming Maze Runner: The Death Cure in Vancouver, Canada.

“Dylan O’Brien was injured yesterday while filming ‘Maze Runner: The Death Cure’ in Vancouver, Canada.   He was immediately transferred to a local hospital for observation and treatment.  Production on the film will be shut down while he recovers. Our thoughts go out to Dylan for a full and speedy recovery.”

According to TMZ, the accident was the result of a car stunt gone wrong in which a vehicle hit O’Brien, leaving the actor with “severe” injuries and broken bones.

As with the previous two movies, Maze Runner: The Death Cure is directed by Wes Ball from a screenplay by T.S. Nowlin adapting the YA novels of James Dashner. It follows the events of 2014’s The Maze Runner and 2015’s Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and co-stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Rosa Salazar, Ki Hong Lee and Dexter Darden.

The film is currently slated for a February 17, 2017 release date, although that may change given the production delays. We’ll report more information as it comes in.

UPDATE: Dashner has shared the following on Twitter.
