Mary J. Blige has signed on to play legendary singer Nina Simone in the biopic Nina.
The film will focus on Simone’s relationship later in life with her assistant Clifton Henderson, played by David Oyelowo (The Last King of Scotland).
The movie was written and will be directed by Cynthia Mort (The Brave One.
The $10 million project will begin shooting in France in September.
