While rumors last week said that Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn had passed on X-Men: First Class, the helmer is now the frontrunner to direct the prequel. We’re hearing the deal is not 100% done yet, but it is definitely looking good.
The 20th Century Fox project is about the formative years of Xavier and Magneto, and the formation of the school and where their relationship took a wrong turn.
Josh Schwartz and Jamie Moss wrote the script. Bryan Singer and Lauren Shuler Donner will produce.
Vaughn’s feature credits also include Layer Cake and Stardust.
