Clash of the Titans and Center of the Earth Sequels Moving Forward

Deadline New York reports that Warner Bros. is moving forward with sequels to both Clash of the Titans and Journey to the Center of the Earth.

The site says the studio is eyeing a spring 2012 release for a Clash of the Titans follow-up. Director Louis Leterrier won’t be at the helm this time (he’ll still executive produce), though Sam Worthington is expected to reprise the role before he makes the Avatar sequel. Greg Berlanti will write the story while the studio looks for a screenwriter and director. The film has $388.8 million worldwide since opening at the beginning of the month.

As far as the Journey to the Center of the Earth sequel, New Line/Warner Bros. wants to make a fall 2011 release, which means that Eric Brevig wouldn’t be able to direct because he’s busy with Yogi Bear. The site says that “Fraser wants to be loyal to Brevig and is resisting New Line’s suggestion of filmmakers like Brad Peyton.” We’ll have to wait and see how that turns out. “Journey” collected $242 million worldwide in 2008.
