Taika Waititi Teases Discussions of The Hulk Talking in Thor: Ragnarok

We could see The Hulk talking in Thor: Ragnarok

Across three movies, his longest line to date has been “Puny god,” but could Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk be getting some real dialogue in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok? Speaking with HitFix, director Taika Waititi had this to say about the possibility of The Hulk talking:

“It’s interesting, because at the moment, there’s a big conversation that’s happening about how far to push that. Whether or not The Hulk should be [verbal/conscious]… I think a lot of those conversations have more to do with what’s going to come up in future movies. So I think a lot of those decisions are larger group decisions, rather than anything to do with just me or the writer. They have a lot of stuff that they have to consider. But I do think that’s the best way to track it. I think we all want that. I think we all want to see that development and the evolution of that character. I also think you can do it in a fun way.”

Mark Ruffalo has previously teased that the Hulk and Bruce Banner personas may have begun to meld in the film, but whether the Hulk will smash those verbal barriers keeping him down remains to be seen.

Thor: Ragnarok, aimed to close out the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Asgardian trilogy, will see the return of Chris Hemsworth as the god of thunder with Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Cate Blanchett is also in talks to play the film’s villain.

The “Phase Three” entry recently brought aboard 2013 “Black List” screenwriter Stephany Folsom. Previously, Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle have worked on the script. Thor: Ragnarok is set to open in theaters on November 3, 2017 in 3D/2D theaters and IMAX.
