Pirates of the Caribbean Casting and More Film News

Production Weekly was busy updating the company’s Twitter account on Friday with some bits of news worth mentioning.

First up, they say British actor Stephen Graham (This Is England, photo left) in talks to join the cast of Walt Disney Pictures’ Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides playing the role of Scram.

They add that Colin Farrell is in talks to play Marcus in Warner Bros. romantic comedy Something Borrowed. Filming in The Hamptons begins later this month.

Vera Farmiga will star and direct the indie Higher Ground, based on Carolyn Briggs’ memoir “This Dark World.” The movie will start filming in Upstate NY in June.

Also, Bryan Cranston and Ben Kingsley are set to star in the indie A Birder’s Guide to Everything. Rob Meyer’s feature directorial debut begins this summer.

The site says that Paramount aerial action adventure Northern Lights has opened production offices in Ann Arbor, MI, with filming scheduled to start in early June.

And Robert Rodriguez’s Spy Kids 4: Armageddon (new title) starts shooting mid-July at his Troublemaker Studios in Austin.
