Admittedly, we were somewhat disappointed when we arrived at the 2010 ShoWest only to find a thrown-together mock-up of a poster for Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, essentially the previously-released still and a generic title logo. That was exacerbated by Universal neglecting to show footage from the movie at the Opening Ceremony.
At least the former has been rectified with the very first teaser poster for Wright’s take on Brian Lee O’Malley’s popular series of graphic novels, starring Michael Cera in the title role, joined by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Jason Schwartzman and more. It’s a fairly simple image of Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim wielding his bass guitar and the slogan “An epic of epic epicness,” which doesn’t say a lot about what the movie is about but continues to build the expectations for Wright’s first movie since Hot Fuzz.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World hits theaters on August 13.
