UPDATE: Deadline reports that Goldsman is on board as the film’s executive producer. He’s also helping to “flesh out” the story. Paramount is looking to start shooting in May.
ShockTillYouDrop.com is reporting that Akiva Goldsman is the frontrunner to direct Paramount Pictures’ Paranormal Activity 2, which is still scheduled to open in theaters on October 22nd.
Goldsman’s recent writing credits include I Am Legend, The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. While he has directed two episodes of “Fringe” and an episode of “Kings,” Paranormal Activity 2 would be his feature debut.
Written and directed by Oren Peli, the original film only cost $15,000 to make and earned an impressive $183.8 million worldwide.
