Adam Brody, Alia Shawkat and Allison Janney are in negotiations to join the previously-announced Hugh Laurie, Leighton Meester and Catherine Keener in family dramedy The Oranges.
The film centers on a man (Laurie) who has a romantic relationship with the daughter (Meester) of a family friend. That turns their lives, and the lives of their families, upside down.
Brody will play Laurie’s son, who falls for Meester but is shocked to learn she’s having a torrid affair with his dad. Shawkat is Brody’s sister, thinking of moving out, while Keener plays their mother. Janney is Meester’s mom.
Julian Farino will direct from a script by Ian Helfer and Jay Reiss. Filming is scheduled to start on March 30 in New York.
