Ecosse Films is developing a new feature adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel, “Treasure Island,” according to Variety.
Ecosse’s Douglas Rae and Robert Bernstein want to update the 19th century tale for contemporary audiences, playing up the relationship between Long John Silver and narrator Jim Hawkins.
The trade says Silver’s character will be “hipper” this time around.
Niall Johnson (Callas) is writing the script.
