Marvel’s Doctor Strange Casts Amy Landecker in Mystery Role

Amy Landecker has joined the cast of Marvel’s Doctor Strange in a mystery role

The “Phase Three” film now in production, Marvel‘s Doctor Strange has today added “Transparent” star Amy Landecker to its cast. TheWrap has the news, reporting that, while the actress’ specific role has not yet been disclosed, Amy Landecker will join a cast that includes “Sherlock” star Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Tilda Swinton (Only Lovers Left Alive), Rachel McAdams (The Vow) and Michael Stuhlbarg (Pawn Sacrifice).

Scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016, Doctor Strange is scripted by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus, Passengers) and directed by Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily RoseDeliver Us From Evil). It is said to follow the story of neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.

Although no official Doctor Strange artwork has yet been revealed, fans attending the recent D23 Expo in Anaheim, California were treated to a concept art sizzle reel, teasing the look of the “Phase Three” entry. Since then, there have been several photos from the Kathmandu set depicting Cumberbatch and Ejiofor as Strange and Baron Mordo, respectively.

Amy Landecker has recently appeared in a number of big screen films, including this year’s “found footage” time travel thriller Project Almanac and writer and director Nicole Holofcener’s Enough Said, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the late James Gandolfini. She even starred opposite Doctor Strange‘s Michael Stuhlbarg in Joel and Ethan Coen’s 2009 black comedy A Serious Man. She can next be seen in Jonathan Mostow’s Hunter’s Prayer (formerly For the Dogs), starring opposite Sam Worthington and Emma Roberts. That film is currently without a release date.
