Li Bingbing will star in Stan Lee’s Chinese superhero film Realm

Chinese production and distribution outfit Fundamental Films has teamed with Stan Lee Global Entertainment on Realm, which will star Li Bingbing (Transformers: Age of Extinction, Resident Evil: Retribution). Based off an original idea from Lee, the screenplay is written by Alex Litvak (Predators, The Three Musketeers), with the premise of the story yet to be revealed. Li Bingbing will also produce alongside Gill Champion from Stan Lee Global Entertainment, and Gregory Ouanhon of Fundamental, who will oversee production on behalf of their companies. Fundamental’s Gary Glushon will also executive produce.

Mark Gao, Chairman of Fundamental Films said: “Stan Lee’s imagination has brought the world some of its most iconic pop-culture stories and characters. It gives us incredible pleasure and excitement to present his latest creation.”

“What a kick it has been to create our first Chinese female superhero, and an empowering one at that,” said Stan Lee. “It has been such a fun experience bringing to life an international woman character, and the ability to do so has been different from anything we’ve ever done! I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it.”

Lee is the former President and Chairman of Marvel Comics, and the iconic co-creator of characters including Spider-Man, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor, and the X-Men. He founded POW! Entertainment in 2001 with the intention to create, develop, and license film, television, and video games properties. In 2014, POW! Entertainment formed Stan Lee Global Entertainment, a joint venture with a Hong Kong based investor, to capitalize and develop a number of Stan’s original creations, including Realm.
