‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ Posters Celebrate a Little Madness

We’re less than a year away from Alice Through the Looking Glass, James Bobin‘s sequel to Disney’s massively successful (financially that is) live-action Alice in Wonderland retelling from 2010. With its May 27, 2016 release date looming ever closer, what better time than Disney‘s D23 Expo to get the promotional campaign kicking? There hasn’t been a still, clip or trailer released for the new movie yet, but the Mouse House officially unveiled the first posters for the new movie today.

Mia Wasikowska and Johnny Depp return to play Alice and the Mad Hatter, respectively, and so do Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Michael Sheen as the voice of the White Rabbit and Alan Rickman as the voice of the Blue Caterpillar.

The posters, featuring Alice and the Hatter, hobbling their way through clock gears-filled waters, doesn’t reveal anything regarding the plot or what we should expect. They do, however, ask us to prepare ourselves, for soon comes a time for a little madness.

I can’t call myself a fan of Tim Burton‘s initial film, but I know the company is paying more attention to its billion dollar intake rather than my petty concerns. I’ve enjoyed Bobin’s past work, though, and I’m looking forward to seeing if he can make things a little more bearable in his go-around with the series. Having the likes of Sacha Baron Cohen and Rhys Ifans should help more than it hurts, though the first one didn’t receive many favors from its fine cast. We’ll have to see when footage comes around where this falls down the rabbit hole (and it looks like a trailer is coming soon), but hopefully my expectations are not shrunken down once again.
