‘Walking Dead’ Creator & More to Write New ‘Transformers’ Sequels, Spin-Offs

In case you forgot, that Transformers brain trust” — Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg and Lorenzo di Bonaventura — has hired the writers behind their forthcoming line-up of spin-offs and sequels.

Said writers include “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman, Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man 2), Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk) and Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) all agreeing to keep the Autobots and Decepticons crashing and smashing in theaters for the next however-many years. The deals are extremely recent, according to reports, so all that’s known is their upcoming involvement with these new franchise builders.

It’s not clear what and which movies these writers will pen but they all join Akiva Goldsman, who has been on board since March, serving as the Transformers top dog akin to Marvel’s Kevin Feige. And this is just the beginning, as more writers are expectee to come onto these projects once they move farther along.

In either case, Transformers 5 would be the next in the series, with Ehren Kruger to write, Mark Wahlberg likely to lead, but Michael Baypossibly ditching the director’s chair this time. It’s likely here where the team of writers take the steps to copy Marvel’s lay-out for future Transformers movies, as we see all the ins-and-outs of the world Bay couldn’t fit into his four, nearly three hour-long features.
