Alexandre Desplat Will Score ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’

Alexandre Desplat was nominated last year for his scores for The Imitation Game and The Grand Budapest Hotel, the latter of which he won the Oscar for. His work last year didn’t end there though, scoring The Monuments Men, Unbroken and Godzilla and Film Music Reporter has learned via an interview with Desplat on Radio Classique’s Culture Club that Desplat will be returning to work with Godzilla helmer Gareth Edwards on his next feature, Rogue One, the upcoming standalone Star Wars film set for release on December 16, 2016.

This will mark the first live-action Star Wars score that will not be composed by John Williams who is already confirmed to be returning for this year’s Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
