Peyton Reed to Direct Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’, Adam McKay Contributing to Film’s Script

Peyton Reed (Yes Man, Bring It On) has been named as the director that will replace Edgar Wright on Marvel’s Ant-Man, set for release on July 17, 2015 and starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas while Adam McKay, who was previously rumored to take over as director, will instead contribute to the film’s script.

The studio also released a new official synopsis:

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

There is no word if Wright and co-writer Joe Cornish will get any credit for the film’s screenplay or Eric Pearson, who was said to have written the draft that ultimately say Wright drop the project.

Along with Rudd and Douglas, the cast includes Michael Peña, Evangeline Lilly, Patrick Wilson, Corey Stoll and Matt Gerald.

As for my personal opinion, I think this tweet hits the nail on the head…
