Moore and Levi to Voice Disney’s Rapunzel

Heat Vision reports that Mandy Moore will voice the title character in Walt Disney Pictures’ Digital 3D-animated Rapunzel, while “Chuck” star Zachary Levi has been cast as the voice of the bandit who finds himself on the road with the rebellious, teenage hair apparent.

Byron Howard and Nathan Greno will direct the film, inspired by the Brothers Grimm fairy tale. Roy Conli is producing and Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) will compose the film’s music.

Rapunzel is scheduled for a holiday 2010 release.

The project was previously known as “Rapunzel Unbraided,” but Disney•Pixar chief creative officer John Lasseter started from scratch after he came on board.

According to the site, the new version “picks up with the princess, famous for her 70 feet of golden hair, after she’s been stolen from her parents’ castle as an infant and imprisoned. Now a teenager, Rapunzel escapes and goes on the run with a bandit as her captor pursues them.”
