I posted my review of Criterion’s Blu-ray upgrade of Akira Kurosawa’s Throne of Blood just yesterday. It was the first time I’d watched the film since first seeing it six years ago and really enjoyed it more than I did that first time, but I think that’s just how it goes when you try and dive head first into these classic films. They’re classics for a reason and sometimes it will hit you immediately and other times it takes a second viewing and just more film watching experience. For me Throne of Blood fell into the latter category and I’m glad it did. It doesn’t always work out that way, but it’s always better to find love in something rather than any measure of disappointment.

The Act of Killing
The Act of Killing on DVD Blu-ray today
I never wrote a review of The Act of Killing, but instead an editorial examining my experience of watching the film, which actually took place over the course of two days. Suffice to say, it’s a film that needs to be digested fully rather than in two courses.

Inequality for All
Robert Reich is a very smart guy and boy, he sure can make you feel pretty shitty about the state of our current economy as he places the onus on future generations, but if The Wolf of Wall Street is any indication of what’s going on Wall Street and the kind of punishment these white collar criminals are facing than things appear even shittier.

Closed Circuit

I didn’t hear anything good about this came-and-went thriller starring Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall and have more than enough other movies I can watch so I’m not counting on ever giving this one a spin.

Runner Runner

Yikes, not a very good film. It’s just not.

I’ve heard from two people to pretty much avoid this one. I will take their advice and direct you to my reasoning for why I won’t likely ever watch Closed Circuit if there are any questions.
