Emilia Clarke Will Play Sarah Connor in New ‘Terminator’ Movie

It was previously rumored “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke was the front-runner for the role of Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genesis, the latest attempt to resuscitate the franchise and today it was confirmed she will indeed play the character originated by Linda Hamilton in James Cameron‘s 1984 original.

Thor: The Dark World helmer, Alan Taylor, who previously directed six episodes of “Thrones” for HBO, will direct the picture, which already landed Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) as Sarah Connor’s son, John. Additionally, Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to return as his iconic cyborg character, though plot details are nil.

The film is set for a July 1, 2015 release and is already planned as the first film in a new trilogy. Let’s just hope they make three actual films, and not three chapters entirely dependent on the sequel to exist and be appreciated as a singular project.
