Rebecca De Mornay (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle) will topline the remake of cult 1980 horror film Mother’s Day. Filming starts next week in Winnipeg, says Variety.
She joins a cast that includes Jamie King, Shawn Ashmore, Briana Evigan and Deborah Ann Woll.
Darren Lynn Bousman is directing from Scott Milam’s script, which follows a family of villains, led by a sadistic mother, who return to their former home and terrorize the new owners and their guests.
The trade adds that the filmmakers are aiming for a release in April, timed to take advantage of Mother’s Day on May 9.
