Joe Wright Ventures Back into Fairy Tale Land with the Origins of Peter Pan

For what it’s worth, Joe Wright‘s Hanna is a fairy tale in its own right and so it just might be interesting to see what he can do with a new telling of Peter Pan over at Warner Bros.

Variety reports Wright will direct the pic from a script by Jason Fuchs (Ice Age: Continental Drift) and while not much is known about the narrative direction the story will take, it’s expected elements such as Neverland and Captain Hook will play a part in the story.

This is the third such Pan related feature to go into active development as of late with The Hunger Games director Gary Ross working on Peter and the Starcatchers for Disney and Sony developing Pan with Channing Tatum in the lead role.

Depending on what stage the script is in and if Wright is ready to move forward, perhaps WB can beat the other two to the punch, which I’m sure is their goal. I know one thing, it’s nice to see Wright working on pretty much anything other than Fifty Shades of Grey, which it was rumored he was the frontrunner at one point.
