Last night I think we were all a little surprised with the Batman vs. Superman (aka Man of Steel 2) movie and while we knew the plan was to release the film in 2015, Warner Bros. has now officially announced a July 17, 2015 release for the film.
Henry Cavill will again play Superman (aka Clark Kent) in the sequel alongside fellow returning Man of Steel stars Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. David S. Goyer will again write the script.
The July release date positions the film two weeks after Independence Day 2, one week after Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and a week ahead of the planned release of The Smurfs 3.
The nearest superhero release currently on the schedule is the May 1 release of The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
