The reader predictions are in and while I personally think Lee Daniels’ The Butler is going to take the weekend it appears the readers and Laremy are in line with the predicted top two films at this weekend’s box office, though there is some disparity between the other two new releases.
Both Laremy and the readers predict Kick-Ass 2 will take the top spot at the box office, and the readers are predicting it to do $700,000 more than Laremy targets. Reader predictions, however, do see The Butler making $2.1 million more than Laremy expects and I just think this is a case where the target demographic for The Butler just isn’t as easy to predict as it is younger moviegoers. Positive reviews for The Butler and the lack of films with much substance as of late are in its favor in my opinion… We’ll see.
In third Laremy is going with Paranoia, which didn’t screen here in Seattle for critics and is being savaged by the critics that did get to see it to the tune of a 3% RottenTomatoes rating with many wondering if it’s the worst film of both Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman‘s careers. Ouch! Laremy sees a $9.6 million opening for the film nevertheless while readers see a much dimmer future for the thriller, predicting it to finish at $6.9 million. I didn’t see it and haven’t even watched a trailer so I’ll slowly fade into the background on that one.
Reviews for Jobs aren’t that good either and Laremy went low on this one predicting $7.5 million worth of iPhone users will show up while readers are a little more optimistic at $8.4 million.
