Disney Wants a ‘Star Wars’ Movie Every Summer Beginning 2015

The J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars: Episode VII is expected to hit theaters Summer 2015 and during their presentation at CinemaCon yesterday, Disney announced it plans on having a new Star Wars film in theaters every summer from that point forward.

The expectation is to kick things off with the new trilogy in 2015, which would continue every other year with Episode VIII in 2017 and Episode IX in 2019 with spin-off / standalone films in-between. Rumored standalone possibilities have ranged from Yoda to another featuring a young Han Solo and Boba Fett.

Speaking of Solo, Harrison Ford was on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night promoting his new film 42 and while he wouldn’t answer any Star Wars-related questions he wasn’t above having a little fun with some dressed up audience members. Check out the video below.

Oh, and Patton Oswalt did a Star Wars filibuster on “Parks and Recreation” that included references to The Avengers, X-Men, Clash of the Titans and whatever else he could come up with on the fly.
