2013 Oscars Won’t End with Best Picture Announcement

The Oscars always build toward that one final moment where one of the Hollywood elite walk on stage and open the envelope and say, “And the winner for Best Picture goes to…” Everyone at the Kodak Theatre (excuse me, Dolby Theatre this year) cheers, the Oscar bloggers groan, the live-bloggers relax and everyone else wakes up and goes to bed. Well, not so this year…

The Academy just announced the 2013 Oscars won’t conclude with the Best Picture announcement. Certainly it will be the last award handed out this Sunday, February 24, but the show ain’t over until they say it’s over.

Oscar show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced today that Kristin Chenoweth and Oscar host Seth MacFarlane will participate in a special show closing musical performance.

“After the Best Picture award has been given, Seth and Kristin will perform a special number and we think it will be a ‘can’t miss’ moment,” said Zadan and Meron in a press release.

As a result, I have added Chenoweth to the growing list of presenters and performers already confirmed for this year’s ceremony, which you can check out right here. And I’ll see you back here on Sunday for our live blog and stay tuned as my final Oscar predictions will be released shortly along with polls for you to vote on who will win each and every category.
