AFI Top Ten Movies of 2012 Offer Nothing New

Well, the race this year seems to be quite clear with only one real “surprise” among the AFI Top Ten Movies of 2012, that being the decision to go with The Dark Knight Rises over The Master. Otherwise, you’re looking at a list that contains my predicted top ten Best Picture contenders, which tells me I’m really onto something.

Question now, I guess, if we were to take this list into serious consideration, would be to wonder if this year we will see ten nominees and if Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained can get in.

Check out the top ten below and continue to salivate until Django Unchained, Zero Dark Thirty and Les Miserables remain on the release calendar horizon. Oh, and for a lot of you still, until Silver Linings Playbook finally expands.

  1. Argo
  2. Beasts of the Southern Wild
  3. The Dark Knight Rises
  4. Django Unchained
  5. Les Miserables
  6. Life of Pi
  7. Lincoln
  8. Moonrise Kingdom
  9. Silver Linings Playbook
  10. Zero Dark Thirty

The TV side looks like this:

  5. “Girls”
  6. “Homeland”
