Superman is Arrested in New ‘Man of Steel’ Poster

As a way of promoting tomorrow’s DVD and Blu-ray release of The Dark Knight Rises, Warner Bros. had fans sharing some sort of Facebook widget that ultimately unlocked the following new poster for Zack Snyder‘s Superman flick Man of Steel, which depicts Henry Cavill as the titular superhero in handcuffs.

The next trailer for the film is going to be shown in front of screenings of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14 and I’m sure this imagery will be addressed somehow. There appears to me to be some sort of learning curve going on here in that just as Batman was turned into a villain in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, they may be getting to that early on in this first Superman feature.

Man of Steel hits theaters on June 14. Check out the poster below.

Man of Steel : Poster

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question — Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.
