New ‘Stoker’ Poster Stares into Your Soul

Fox Searchlight’s decision to release Chan-wook Park‘s Stoker on March 1, 2013 seems so odd to me, but perhaps it has more wide audience appeal than I originally expected it would and it won’t be lost in the early year melee. I must say, however, if Park’s first English-language feature is a massive success, the door of possibility that opens is quite exciting.

Today a new poster for the film arrives (via Empire) featuring the face of Mia Wasikowska who plays India, a young girl whose father dies in an auto accident, which is when her Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode), whom she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother (Nicole Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

The poster features elements of the original, hand-drawn teaser poster, which you can see here and if you haven’t yet watched the trailer I included it above.
